For its twelfth edition, the KRAAK festival trades Brussels in for Aalst. Netwerk and KRAAK will organise the festival in cooperation from 2010 onwards.

As previous years the festival offers a strong sample of new and adventurous music. Spread over two locations - Netwerk and de Brug, a stone’s throw from the Houtkaai - future hypes and established values are at play, most of them for the first time in Europe. On the program: Fluxus avant-garde, ethnographic field recordings, improv, new age, avant-pop, no-fi punk, ... KRAAK festival maintains the yearly tradition of a twelve hour lasting event full of musical nomadism, a psychotic trip for adventurous maniacs.

KRAAK is an organization that promotes quality new music. It brings out recordings, organizes concerts and festivals, and publishes a monthly mini-magazine Ruis. Flagships include Ignatz, Köhn, Silvester Anfang, Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat, Kiila, …

The festival is a part of the European project Interreg IVa ‘2 Mers Seas Zeeën’ Cross-boarder cooperative programme 2007-2013. This project is a cooperation between Aspex (Porthsmouth), Boem vzw (Kunst & Zwalm), Fabrica (Brighton), L’H du Siège (Valenciennes), La Malterie (Lille) and Netwerk (Aalst). United by the motto ‘Investing in your future’ sustainable strategies for audience paticipation are developed.
