Noise Chamber #001

Adam Bohman / Maurice-Charles JJ / Jason Van Gulick / Lazara Rosell Albear / Pauwel De Buck / Maze dj-set

SA 18.05 2013 — 20:00

Adam Bohman UK
Cult among of the British avant garde improv scene, member of Morphogenesis and half of the Bohman Brothers, Adam Bohman uses non-musical objects, various collages and elements of narrative to create his inimitable sonic journeys. Pataphysics for your ears.

Maurice-Charles JJ BE
Brilliant free improviser from Brussels, MCJJ uses condenser microphones to eliminate the hierarchy between the tones and the often considered “parasite” sounds of his sax, his saliva, his hum, guttural voices and whistling.

Lazara Rosell Albear CU/BE
Experimental drummer, conceptual performer, dancer, choreographer and video artist originally from Cuba, Lazara Rosell Albear has taken part to projects with Victoria, LOD, L’Espace Senghor, Les Ballets C. de la B. She has worked with Alain Platel, Koen Augustijnen, Xavier Lukomsky…

Jason Van Gulick FR/BE
Among the most interesting drummers in the scene nowadays, Van Gulick processes the sounds of his drum set in real time and provides an explosive mixture of wild rythms and abstract soundscaping. He has performed with Carla Bozulich / evangelista, Stephen O’Malley (Sunn O)))), U.H. Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten), Y.E.R.M.O. and wild improv Collective DEGA.

Pauwel De Buck BE
Pauwel De Buck is a sound artist living and working in Ghent.
Sometimes called “atonal”, his work can be described as an uncompromised exploration of the sonic realms through tapes and objects manipulation, feedback and field recordings. Conducting his researches along pretty radical paths, Pauwel’s performances are sometimes harsh to the neophytes’ ears. And that’s precisely why we love it: De Buck doesn’t attempts to seduce you in any way. No bullshit, just SOUND!

Maze DJ set BE
Member of minimal-industrial project Orphan Swords (Debut tape upcoming on Idiosyncratics Label), Maze shifts freely between the rawness of contemporary industrial music and the sensual grooves of experimental techno, tribal hip-hop and neokraut vibes.

Noise Chamber is a series of events proposed by Idiosyncratics label in collaboration with Netwerk. Its aim is to promote sound art and noise performances in art centers and other venues in Belgium.
