Christoph De Boeck

Christoph De Boeck (Belgium, 1972) creates installations in which sound resides as an articulation of energy. Surfaces are resonating, and sound sources are spatially arranged to create an image that is visually and sonically coherent. Sound is used to map out the immaterialities that produce this world. Recently De Boeck has focused on how tension leaves acoustic traces on materials, for example in detecting infrastructure cracks through ultra-acoustic technology. This arrangement of acoustic marks relates to a man-made world that is under pressure. They are traces that point to a larger event we cannot define.
