The group exhibition Fat Birds don’t Fly is about people and their (de)constructed identities. The exhibition shows how artists look at an individual or a community. the artists offer a vision of individual or collective identity, with attention to what happens in the margins and by using different means of expression such as painting, texts, photography and video, dance and performance.
In the context of the Louis Paul Boon year, the exhibition is intertwined with audio clips with quotes from Louis Paul Boon’s 90 People and The Paradise Bird. The kaleidoscopic and timeless body of work of this Aalstborn writer still provides a fascinating look at how individuals and communities build their identity.
