Beasts of the Southern Wild + Nkosi Coiffure

This summer Netwerk organizes, in collaboration with the City of Aalst, a series of outdoor movie nights on the lawn of the Houtkaai, which will be made free of traffic in the context of the neighbourhood project, Zomersprokkels. The program includes some wonderful films, always in combination with a must-see Belgian short film, and local musical talent.

Southern Louisiana, in the middle of the marshes, six-year-old Hushpuppy lives with her alcoholic father, Wink. In this forgotten area residents live in the knowledge that they are just a storm away from their demise.
In Beasts of the Southern Wild, filmed with only non-professionals, the viewer is taken on a journey where fantasy and reality are beautifully interspersed.
